Actividades del Rotary las Delicias, la Fundación Venezolana contra la Parálisis Infantil y HOI

En el marco del Día Mundial de la Poliomielitis, el Club Rotary Las Delicias organizó una serie de actividades para conmemorar esta fecha y con la finalidad de fortalecer el compromiso para erradicar la poliomielitis a nivel global, mediante la aplicación de vacunas, y donde participaron el Dr. Rafael Arcia por parte del Hospital Ortopédico Infantil y la Lic. Andreína Vogeler de Pérez por la Fundación Venezolana contra la Parálisis Infantil. Esta efeméride fue promovida en el año 1988 por el Rotary Internacional, en tributo al nacimiento del investigador Jonas Salk que hizo posible el desarrollo de la vacuna que logró prevenir esta enfermedad.
Es muy importante recordar que el nacimiento de nuestras organizaciones, la Fundación Venezolana contra la Parálisis Infantil y el Hospital Ortopédico Infantil estuvo dado precisamente para luchar contra el flagelo de la polio que azotaba a nuestra nación, y quienes fueron pioneras en la erradicación de esta enfermedad en Venezuela gracias a las jornadas de vacunación realizadas en la época.

Poliomielitis: Historia y consecuencias, dictada por el Dr. Rafael Arcia, donde se trataron diversos puntos relacionados con esta enfermedad y su incidencia.
La Fundación Hospital Ortopédico Infantil: Historia, trayectoria y papel en el tratamiento de la poliomielitis, facilitada por la Lic. Andreina Vogeler Mendoza, quien compartió la experiencia, metas y logros de la Institución y el papel que ha jugado en la erradicación de la Polio en Venezuela.
